What changes the price
Six things that move the number.
- How much is going
- One load or two makes the biggest difference. A list or a few photos lets us price it properly.
- Distance
- A run across the city costs less than Cork to Tralee. Longer runs are priced for the drive both ways.
- Stairs and lifts
- Third floor with no lift takes longer than a ground-floor flat. Tell us up front and it's in the price.
- Parking and carry distance
- If the van can't get near the door, every trip takes longer. Apartment blocks and city-centre streets are the usual culprits.
- Being ready
- Boxes packed and taped, beds stripped, and everything in one place before we arrive keeps the time down.
- The day
- The end of the month and September weekends are the busiest days. Midweek dates are easier to fit in.
Price questions
Is the price fixed?
For most jobs, yes. Once we know what's moving, from where to where, and what the stairs and parking are like, you get a fixed price before the day. Open-ended jobs are booked by the hour instead.
Why do prices vary so much between men with vans?
Some prices are per hour and some are per job, and some include the time to get to you while others don't. Compare the total for your job, and ask whether stairs, waiting time and travel are included.
