What fits in a man with a van?

Updated

The short answer

A large panel van usually takes the contents of a studio or 1-bed flat in one load, with room for a double bed, wardrobe, sofa, table and chairs, and around 20 to 30 boxes. A 2-bed is often one or two loads. Send a list or photos and you'll get a straight answer before you book.

Rough guide by size of move

  • Single item or a few items: easily one load, often with room for a collection on the way
  • Student move: one load, and often room for two students going the same way
  • Studio or 1-bed flat: usually one load
  • 2-bed flat: one or two loads, depending on furniture
  • 2-bed house or bigger: often two loads, or a removals lorry

Items that take more space than you'd think

  • Corner sofas
  • Large wardrobes that don't come apart
  • American-style fridge freezers
  • Bikes, garden furniture and lawnmowers

Making it fit

Taking beds and tables apart, packing loose things into boxes and getting rid of what you don't need before the move all make a real difference to how much fits in one trip.
